I met Brenda by chance, although looking back maybe it was fate we seemed destined to meet as soul partners. Just before Christmas of 1973 I went to the Palais alone met a complete stranger named Robin and we saw two girls dancing and really looking as if they were enjoying themselves. We approached gingerly asked to intervene and there started a wonderful happy life together. We seemed on a rollercoaster unable to stop events taking their natural course. We had a wonderful hectic courtship becoming engaged in March and married July 27th with honymoon at Ilfracombe. We began married life living in Nottingham but soon began searching for a plot of land to build our dream, a bungalow.Eventually settling on a location close to all amenities at Heanor, location of schools was important as Brenda was now expecting our son Matthew to arrive May 1st.It took us 3 years to build doing everything ourselves, Brenda labouring on site whilst managing pregnancy, running a home and being a wonderful wife.Brenda was immensley proud and excited to produce Matthew at 42 years old. She left her job as a reprographic assistant at Trent Polytechnic determined to be a good Mum involved in his nursery and school activities and development.Brenda was always planning little treats for us as a family, special meals with all the trimmings or little outings to parks, theatres, shows and holidays. Holidays were always special, days before Brenda would get as excited as a little girl herself and we often had to leave in the night as she could not sleep or contain herself any longer. These were the traits of Brendas personality that endeared her to family, freinds and even strangers, who meeting her for the first time were taken with her infectuous excitment and flair for seeing the comical side of situations that rubbed off on all around her.
